Big Challenge, Big Impact

Let’s get boggin’ and together, we can help ensure no child has to face cancer alone!

Whether you’re flying solo or taking part with family, friends or colleagues, challenge yourself against nature this October at Castlewellan Forest Park.

Crawl through bushes, climb over fallen trees, wade through mud pits and take on the lake, all so we can continue to provide the right support at the right time to children and young people impacted by cancer. It simply wouldn’t be possible without you.

For those who pre-register, sign in opens on the day at 9.30am with the Junior Bog Run getting underway from 10.30am and our Senior Bog Run getting underway from 12.00pm. We will have waves of 50 going across the start line every 10 minutes and you can choose your own wave time during online registration.

Please note, all participants must be pre-registered online. Registrations on the day cannot be accepted. Online registration closes at 1pm on Thursday 9th October, or sooner if the event sells out. Sign up early to secure your spot!

Support families like RJ's

“Cancer Fund for Children made what was a really difficult time a lot more bearable. Knowing someone was there for us as well as the children has helped a lot. Caleb and Noah were given opportunities to chat about things as much as they wanted, with people who understand what it’s like. The charity’s Cancer Support Specialist, Paul also did one-to-one sessions with the boys and they were brilliant.

The boys are quite outdoorsy and up for anything. They did the Bog Run for Cancer Fund for Children in October 2023, shortly after RJ was diagnosed and they loved it.”

RJ, his wife Tori, and their sons Caleb and and Noah live in Castlewellan, home of our Bog Run event. He was diagnosed with cancer in 2023 and they have received support from Cancer Fund for Children since. Sign up to get boggin’ today to show your support to RJ and hundreds more families just like his.

Safety:

The Bog Run is a fun event that people from the age of 8 up and people of all fitness levels can join. However, due to the nature of the event and the terrain involved, there are risks to taking part which you should be aware of before signing up. Slips and scrapes are possible, there are sections of the bog pits that are quite deep, and at one section you will dip under a branch within the bog pit so the mud will come up to your neck. Participants sign up and take part at their own risk, but we always ensure to give a health and safety briefing on the day, advise on the right type of clothes and shoes to wear, and ensure first aid will be onsite throughout the day. If you have any concerns or queries before signing up, please reach out on 028 9080 5599 / 01 562 1580 or email bogrun@cancerfundforchildren.com.

Showers:

There will be a wash down area in the park courtyard and you can then avail of the showers inside the Life Adventure offices (also based in courtyard) if you wish. Facilities are limited so please be prepared to wait. We will also have a bag drop and changing tents down at the finish line if you want to give yourself a quick wipe down and change into old clothes. We always recommend wearing bin bags on the way home to protect your car!
