All money raised in Northern Ireland stays in Northern Ireland to provide support to children and young people impacted by cancer and their families. Every year we provide therapeutic short breaks to around 60-70 families from the Republic of Ireland who are struggling to cope with their child’s cancer diagnosis. We receive donations from people in the Republic of Ireland to cover this. Unfortunately, we can only provide short breaks to one in every seven families which is why we are fundraising in the Republic of Ireland to build a much–needed second Daisy Lodge in Co. Mayo.
Therapeutic short breaks at Daisy Lodge are just one of the vital services we provide. In addition to short breaks our community team deliver individual support, residential group support, and bereavement support to over 500 families every year. It costs us £2.4 million to deliver our services to vulnerable young people and families and we use the donations received where they are needed most at this time.
Every year we organise a range of fundraising events from sponsored walks to coffee mornings and sky dives. You can find out more about our upcoming fundraising events on our website here. Yes, Cancer Fund for Children’s head office is based in Belfast and we own and run our therapeutic short break centre, Daisy Lodge in Newcastle Co. Down. Here we provide therapeutic short breaks to children with cancer and their families and also children who have a parent diagnosed with cancer.
Unfortunately, we cannot except donations of used items such as toys and games due to the risk of infection. If you would like to donate the proceeds from the sales of any items to Cancer Fund for Children it would be very much appreciated.
