Primary School Students Launch Hats and Shades Campaign

Students of Carnmoney Primary School helped us launch our annual Hats and Shades campaign, which aims to educate pupils on the importance of staying safe in the sun.

We are so excited to launch our annual Hats and Shades event, a fundraising campaign which aims to educate nursery and primary school aged children across the island of Ireland on the importance of staying safe in the sun, all with a healthy dose of fun and fashion!

Schools and nurseries are invited to hold a Hats and Shades Day throughout the Summer term, giving pupils the chance to wear their favourite hats and shades, in return for making a donation to Cancer Fund for Children. Funds raised help us provide informal emotional, social and therapeutic support to children, young people and families impacted by cancer, at home, in hospital and at our therapeutic short break centre, Daisy Lodge.

Ahead of Sun Safety Awareness Week which starts on the 12th May, we are encouraging nurseries and schools across the island of Ireland to get sun savvy and sign up to take part in our Hats and Shades event so that we can continue to be there for families when they need us most. This is a great way to educate students on the importance of staying safe and protected during the Summer months, while also encouraging them to have fun for a good cause!

Rebecca Oates, Schools and Youth Fundraising Officer

We are very proud to be active supporters of Cancer Fund for Children and to help them launch their Hats and Shades campaign this year. It’s a fantastic way to engage pupils in sun safety conversations while also raising money in support of children and young people who are impacted by cancer. We would encourage everyone to get involved and put the fun into fundraising!
