ReadOn

Encourage pupils to explore the joy of reading while raising vital funds in support of children impacted by cancer!

What is Readon?

ReadOn is Cancer Fund for Children’s school reading initiative that encourages pupils to read for fun whilst helping to support children and young people impacted by cancer. During ReadOn, children are sponsored to read more for fun, at home or in school. Pupils can read anything from comics to poetry and younger children can listen to stories or use picture books. ReadOn is ideal for any age group!

This year, we are marking 25 years of celebrating World Book Day with ReadOn and so we have a few special prizes on offer:

  • Every school that registers will receive a £20 One4all voucher which can be used to award the Top Pupil (either Top Fundraiser or Top Reader, you can decide how best to use this incentive).
  • The 25th school to sign up will also win a HP All in One PC!

ReadOn can take place anytime throughout the school year but it is an especially good fit for Library’s Week in October, Non-Fiction November and World Book Day in March.

What will my school receive?

Schools will receive a ReadOn pack with posters and teachers resources. Every pupil will receive a bookmark and pencil as a thank you! ReadOn is also perfect for school assemblies. Our Schools Fundraiser can come out to your school to introduce ReadOn and also pop by after you school completes their fundraising for a thank you presentation in assembly.

SCHOOL VISITS – YOU CAN REQUEST A VISIT FROM OUR SCHOOLS FUNDRAISER, ALLOWING PUPILS THE OPPORTUNITY TO HEAR ALL ABOUT THE WORK OF THE CHARITY.

Win a visit from Rebecca McKinney!

Throughout February we will also be teaming up with Cool FM and breakfast show host, Rebecca McKinney to run a special competition. All registered schools will be eligible to enter for the chance to win a visit from Rebecca to their school along with a real-life Ollie the Owl*!

Keep your eyes peeled for entry instructions!

Why take part?

Pupils have fun and feel inspired to read for pleasure, setting and reaching their own challenges!

ReadOn is a fantastic way to introduce pupils to new authors and books!

Schools have reported that during ReadOn, more pupils visit the library!

As well as encouraging pupils to read more, our prize draw and incentive for pupils are great reasons to get involved!

Your school's vital efforts will be making a difference in the lives of children and young people impacted by cancer!
