Cancer Fund for Children Launches Hats and Shades Across Schools

We're excited to launch our annual Hats and Shades event which aims to educate nursery and primary school children on sun safety!

Schools and nurseries are invited to hold a Hats and Shades Day throughout the Summer term, giving pupils the chance to wear their favourite hats and shades, in return for donating to our services. Funds raised help us to provide informal emotional, social and therapeutic support to children, young people and families impacted by cancer, at home, in hospital and at our therapeutic short break centre, Daisy Lodge.

This year, the campaign is being generously sponsored by Elave Sensitive Skincare.

At Elave Sensitive Skincare, we have been dedicated to protecting and caring for sensitive skin since 1934. As an Irish brand with decades of dermatological expertise, we understand the importance of gentle, effective skincare and the role that sun protection plays in maintaining healthy skin from childhood onwards. We are proud to support Cancer Fund for Children’s Hats and Shades campaign, an initiative that helps educate children and families across Ireland about the importance of staying safe in the sun in a fun, engaging and memorable way.

Ahead of Sun Awareness Week which starts on the 11th May, we are encouraging nurseries and schools across the island of Ireland to get sun savvy and sign up to take part in our Hats and Shades event so that we can continue to be there for families when they need us most. This is a great way to educate students on the importance of staying safe and protected during the summer months, while also encouraging them to have fun for a good cause!
