Get boggin’ for children with cancer
Our famous Bog Run is returning to Castlewellan Forest Park on Sunday 11th October, for the tenth and final year! This fun-fuelled challenge encourages participants to get stuck in to help ensure no child has to face cancer alone.
Up to 700 participants are invited to part in the muddiest 5k around, clambering over fallen trees, wading through bog pits and unruly bushes, all whilst having a great time and raising funds in support of children and young people impacted by cancer. When signing up, participants can choose between the adult course which is open to those aged 12 and up, and the junior course open to those aged 8-14 with an accompanying adult.
Our team work to empower, connect and strengthen children, young people and families impacted by cancer. Events like the Bog Run are vital in generating funds so we can continue to provide our services to families like Christopher and Jenna Magee from Newry, whose son Connall went through his own cancer experience in 2021, when he was just 5 years old.
“Cancer Fund for Children holds a very special place in our hearts. Daisy Lodge gave our family somewhere to escape the reality of what he had been through and allowed us to make precious memories together during an incredibly difficult time. We’ve taken part in the Bog Run in 2024 and 2025, and with this year being the 10th and final Bog Run, we’re determined to make it our biggest and best yet. We’re bringing family, friends, Connall’s classmates and their parents together for one last fun adventure in their last year of primary school. For us, it’s a chance to give back to a charity that gave our family so much. We can’t think of a better way to do it than getting very muddy, having plenty of laughs and raising as much as we possibly can!”
