Since 2015, we have welcomed well over 3,000 bog-tastic participants to Castlewellan Forest Park. This year, the muddiest 5k is back for the final time and we want to make sure we go out with a bang. So, whether you’re flying solo or taking part with family, friends or colleagues, sign up to challenge yourself against nature this October for an incredible cause.
Our Bog Run is a run for fun with a Junior event open to those aged 8-14 with an accompanying adult (max 2 children per adult) and a Senior event open to all aged 12+ (12-17 years must be taking part with an adult). We don’t care whether you walk, jog or run. Just have a bit of craic and help us be there for children, young people and their families when they need us most!
KEY DETAILS
COSTS:

TIMES: For those who pre-register, on the day sign in opens from 9.30am with the Junior Bog Run getting underway from 10.30am and our Senior Bog Run getting underway from 12.30pm. We will have waves of 60 going across the start line every 10 minutes and you can choose your own wave time during registration. Online registration closes at 3pm on Thursday 8th October, or earlier if the event sells out. We will not be accepting on the day registrations.
DIFFICULTY: The Bog Run is a 5km course on and off the forest path which involves crawling through bushes, climbing over trees and wading through mud pits (sometimes up to your neck). The senior course goes through a small section of lake that comes up to your waist. While we welcome people of all ages (from 8 up) and of all fitness levels to join us, this is a difficult course, particularly for younger participants. It will be cold and it will be muddy! The Junior course also follows the same route as the Senior course, minus the lake and a few mud pits. Check out our event video below to see what you are signing up for!
FUNDRAISING: The Bog Run is first and foremost a fundraising event. The whole reason we invest money in organising such a challenge is to raise the vital funds needed to continue our work with children and young people impacted by cancer. If you sign up to join us, we please ask that you try your best to raise your sponsorship target. Everyone who reaches their sponsorship target by 1pm on Monday 12th October will automatically be entered into a prize draw!
TEAM REGISTRATION: We have a 10% registration discount for Senior event teams of 5 or more. Get in touch with us on 028 9080 5599 / 01 562 1580 or email events@cancerfundforchildren.com to get your code today. If you have a large group to register for either the Senior or Junior event, don’t hesitate to get in touch and we can support you with getting everyone signed up.
OTHER:
Your Impact
Every month across the island of Ireland, approximately 40 children and young people (aged 0-24) are diagnosed with cancer
We offer vital emotional, social and therapeutic support for these children and young people and their families, in their own home, on the hospital ward and at our short break centre, Daisy Lodge.
This vital support simply would not be possible without amazing individuals, businesses, clubs, community groups and schools by our side. And it is why our Bog Run event exists. To engage our amazing supporters in raising the funds needed to ensure this work can continue.
Thank you for helping us ensure no child has to face cancer alone 💛
Or if you have a query before registering, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
