The Fun 50
January 11 - February 28
Well here we are, back in lockdown! We had hoped to bring back our Winter Woolly Walk to cheer you all up over the winter months, but we decided to postpone this campaign when the restrictions around gatherings and leaving the house were tightened. We are disappointed but it is the responsibility of all of us to stay at home as much as we can, protect the NHS and save lives.
The team at Cancer Fund for Children have guesstimated that we are looking at approximately 50 days of lockdown and we have been trying to think of ways to keep people fundraising for us but also trying to bring a bit of fun into the gloom.
So we have created The Fun 50
We want you to take the number 50 and do whatever you want with it. Are you into walking or running? Okay, try and complete 50 miles by the end of February! Maybe baking is more your thing….so get the oven on and make 50 cupcakes for friends and family!
Why not set yourself the goal of 50 minutes of self care every night…maybe 50 minutes of digital detoxing before bed, 50 minutes of yoga or even 50 minutes in a hot bubble bath!
Or if you are feeling really brave, give up something you love, like chocolate or crisps for 50 days.
We have plenty of ideas to get you started but feel free to come up with your own!
We want you to have fun, but also to use the Fun 50 campaign as a way to stay connected with friends and boost your wellbeing but ultimately, we need you to fundraise as well.
Unfortunately, even with rising cases of Covid-19, cancer continues to devastate families across Northern Ireland. As an organisation, we are doing our best to continue to offer support and services to these families but we cannot do this without your help.
If you would rather make a donation of £50, you can do so here or why not get your friends involved and nominate 5 of them to donate £10 each.
Some Fun 50 Ideas
Move: walk / run / cycle 50 miles by the end of February
Bake: bake 50 cupcakes/brownies or try 50 new foods before the end of February
Give Up: give up something you love like coffee or crisps and get sponsored by friends and family
Read: set yourself a goal to read for 50 minutes daily or maybe 50 pages weekly. Donate every time you finish a book!
HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training): challenge yourself to complete 50 burpees, 50 press ups, 50 squats daily or weekly and get friends to sponsor you or even join in!
Detox: put your phone on flight mode and do a digital detox for 50 minutes before bed each night, practice self care and do yoga or mindfulness for 50 minutes weekly.
Sponsor: challenge yourself to a 50 minutes sponsored silence or a 50 minutes sponsored danceathon….the possibilities are endless!
Reach Out: reach out 50 times to family and friends to offer support, friendship and love in these difficult times. Send motivational quotes, inspiring affirmations or just check in.
Donate: nominate 50 people in your work/school/club to donate £1 – £50. Pick a number between 1 – 50, pick a name and whatever number is picked against the name, they donate that amount.
These are just a few ideas but you can be as creative as you like! To speak to one of our fundraising team about getting involved in The Fun 50, email: firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 028 9080 5599.
