Update on Cancer Fund for Children services.
During the early stages of the Pandemic, like most organisations we had to amend and adjust our service delivery to best meet the changing needs of young people and their families, alongside this we saw a slight reduction in referrals.
In the second year of the pandemic we experienced a 63% increase in referrals across our service, and our referral rate this year has continued to grow at a significant rate.
This year Cancer Fund for Children will deliver more short breaks than ever before, we will deliver more residential weekends for young people and support more families in the community than we have ever done, to do this we have increased our staff team, added some specialist roles and resourced the team as best we can.
The level of referrals over the last nine months has been so high that we have taken the very challenging decision to pause referrals until the 31st March for diagnosed parents and their families, a decision not taken lightly.
As a charity we pride ourselves on the quality and responsiveness of our support. We also want to ensure our staff team are working with a healthy volume of work to ensure its impact and of course their own well being.
Our referrals will remain open for diagnosed children, young people and young adults at this time.
Be assured that our staff and service remains fully operational and we will be operating as normal with families we continue to support on a daily basis and those currently referred to us.
