Support for you

A cancer diagnosis can have a devastating impact. It can turn family life upside down.
Whether you are a parent with cancer, your partner has cancer, you are a parent of a diagnosed child or you have been bereaved through cancer we are here to offer support.
We know that when a parent feels listened to, valued, and supported they are better placed to support their children.

We can help you through:

Meeting other parents through one of our groupwork programmes.

Attending a minibreak with other parents at Daisy Lodge.

Getting support about talking to your child about your cancer diagnosis or a change in your condition.

Getting support with a child who is anxious, angry or cannot sleep.

Communicating bad news.

We also offer direct support including:

  • Therapeutic short breaks for the whole family
  • Parental Minibreaks
  • Individual support: In person, over the phone or online – This support is offered as a one-off session or a programme of support (approx.
    6 sessions)
  • Group support: Bespoke programmes for parents which cover topics including mindfulness, nutrition and coping with anxiety.
Through our support we hope that:

Parents will feel less isolated.

Parents will have reduced stress and anxiety.

Parents will feel better connected and supported.

Parents will be able to manage their emotions better.

Parents will feel able to support the children.

Parents will have increased confidence in coping with the impact of cancer.
