Fibrus announces Cancer Fund for Children as new charity partner

Fibrus has launched a new charity partnership with Cancer Fund for Children

Fibrus, Northern Ireland’s leading full fibre broadband provider, has launched a new charity partnership with Cancer Fund for Children.

Through fundraising events and staff away day projects, Fibrus aims to provide practical and emotional support to give children diagnosed with cancer, or those living with a parent with cancer, much-needed support and respite. Much of the work will be centred around our therapeutic short break centre in Newcastle, with Fibrus employees volunteering their time to become an extension to the Cancer Fund for Children team.

Following a successful year with PIPS Suicide Prevention Ireland, the team at Fibrus chose Cancer Fund for Children for 2022 as members wanted to extend their efforts to support children and young people from every corner of Ireland.

Dominic Kearns, Chief Executive at Fibrus has already presented Cancer Fund for Children with Fibrus’s first donation to help ensure children and young people across Ireland don’t have to face cancer alone.

“Cancer Fund for Children does incredible work to support families going through some of the most unthinkable circumstances, so it is our pleasure to lend our support at Fibrus and help them continue their vital services. This partnership will of course aim to boost fundraising for the charity, but it will be about much more than money alone. We hope we can use our own skills and resources to develop support measures for children and young people, to help them stay connected with friends and family, and to make their lives a little more comfortable during treatment.

Ideas are already being discussed around the office, so we look forward to helping Cancer Fund for Children with more fundraising and initiatives that will support families affected by cancer across Ireland.”

Dominic Kearns, Chief Executive Fibrus

“It is an absolute pleasure to be chosen by the staff group at Fibrus as their Charity Partner for the year ahead. To have received such a generous donation to kick things off as well was most sincerely appreciated. I can’t wait now to work with all the team on bringing together a calendar of activity that not only is going to help us ensure that children and families impacted by cancer receive the right support at the right time, but will also allow the perfect opportunity for team bonding activities and helping to support that all important workplace well-being. It is sure to be an exciting year ahead and together, we will work towards ensuring that no child has to face cancer alone.”
