I am a son who is missing my father
We are very privileged to support children and young people who have been impacted by cancer, including those whose parents have died from cancer.
We wanted to make space for those feelings of grief and loss, and share the words of a young person we support who has written a poem about his experience.
I am a son who is missing my Father,
I wonder if we will ever get to play again,
I hear his jokes,
I see him in my dreams,
I want to hug him,
I am a son who is missing my Father
I pretend that I am ok,
I feel sad,
I touch his things to remind me of him,
I cry at night,
I am a son who is missing my Father
I understand that he is not here,
I say I am ok but not really,
I dream of him,
I try not to cry,
I hope to see him again,
I am a son who is missing my Father.
Thank you to the family for sharing. If this resonates with you, we hope it shows that you are not alone.
