We are excited to have been chosen as the official charity of Mayo organisation, Extreme Tractor Runs 2020 London2Mayo Tractor Run.

Preparations are well underway for the tractor run with an ‘extreme twist’ which will travel from London all the Co. Mayo in April.

The tractor run will start in London on April 5, 2020 and will arrive in Mayo on April 11, 2020, stopping

off at our short break facility, Daisy Lodge Newcastle and the site of our new short break facility, Daisy Lodge Mayo along the way.

All the funds raised from the London2Mayo Tractor Run will go towards our capital appeal to build Daisy Lodge in Cong Co. Mayo.

At present we can currently only provide one in seven families from the Republic of Ireland with a free therapeutic short break, which is why we have made the decision to build a second Daisy Lodge in Cong, Co Mayo so that no family in Ireland has to face childhood cancer alone.

The tractor run will consist of 10 vintage tractors initially for the main part of the run, with an expectation of more tractors joining along the way for support.  The convoy will leave The Claddagh Ring in London, and Travel to Kilkelly, Co. Mayo Ireland.

This is broken down by the organisers as follows:

  • Total distance 833km avoiding all motorways
  • Arrive in Belfast and Visit Daisy Lodge in Newcastle, Co. Down
  • Travel to the Daisy Lodge site in Cong Co. Mayo
  • Arrive in Kilkelly, Co. Mayo

In 2018, Extreme Tractor Runs raised €96,000 for Crumlin Children’s Hospital and Castlebar Mayo University Hospital (MUH) Special Care Baby Unit. Going a step further, in 2019, the group raised €120,000 for the National Rehabilitation Centre Dun Laoghaire and Mullingar and Castlebar MUH Children’s and Paediatric Special Care Units.

In 2020, the group’s focus will be solely on raising much-needed funds for our new short break centre, Daisy Lodge, in Cong, Co. Mayo for children with cancer and their families.
