Winter Woolly Walk
February 29 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Winter Woolly Walk
Our family-friendly Winter Woolly Walk is back for 2020 and will take place at Tollymore Forest Park, Newcastle on Saturday 29th February. What makes that date even more special is that it’s a Leap Day.
A Leap Day is an extra day in the year so be sure to make it count and do something special to celebrate! Taking part in our Winter Woolly Walk would be a wonderful way to do something meaningful that helps local families affected by cancer, so wrap up warm and take a ‘Leap’ for Cancer Fund for Children this February.
The walk is approximately 5km and is suitable for the whole family, although the terrain is through woodland so might be tricky for buggies at particular points. Walkers are free to stroll leisurely or you can walk as briskly as you wish – just as long as everyone is having fun! Warming refreshments will be provided at the end to warm your hands along with some fun family activities for the kids.
How will your participation help?
Our mission is to rebuild young lives devastated by cancer. Every week in Northern Ireland, three children, teenagers or young adults, aged between 0-24 years old, are diagnosed with cancer, and countless more young people will be struggling to cope with their parent’s cancer. By taking part in our Winter Woolly Walks, you will help us to connect, empower and strengthen children living with the impact of cancer in their lives.
We receive less than 0.5% government funding and rely on the generosity of the local people like you to help us provide essential practical and emotional support to children and their families.
How can I register?
It costs just £5 per adult to register and £2 per child and we are hoping that all participants will raise some sponsorship money for taking part. In 2020 we are aiming to raise as much money as possible and hope that you will help us to do this by raising £30 sponsorship per family. A donation of £30 could provide a child or young person struggling with the emotional impact of cancer with an individual support session with one of our Cancer Support Specialists.
