Join us this February and help us mark International Childhood Cancer Day!
With you by our side, we can continue to ensure that no child has to face cancer alone.
The Challenge
Be a superhero this February at the Europa Hotel and scale the 120ft iconic building with the amazing team from Belfast Activity Centre (BAC) in aid of Cancer Fund for Children.
The BAC team have been abseiling off the Europa Hotel and other buildings for 30 years. Their roof top team have SPA and RCI qualifications and years of collective experience. The equipment is double checked regularly before, and during, each abseil, and they also constantly check factors like the weather to guarantee your safety. You can rest assured you are in safe hands!
Our time slots for the day are between 9.20am-10.20am (every 20 minutes) and you will receive your official check in time along with all the final info you need to know for the day no later than 1 week before the event.
Please note, the minimum age to take part in our abseil event is 14 years old and the maximum weight is 18 stone as set by BAC.
The Impact
Every month across the island of Ireland, another 40 children and young people are diagnosed with cancer.
For International Childhood Cancer Day (on Saturday 15th February), we want you to come on board and be a superhero for the day help us raise as much vital funds and awareness as possible. Let’s shine a light on the impact on childhood cancer, and ensure Cancer Fund for Children can continue to be there offering support when families need us most.
Families just like Gabriel’s. It simply wouldn’t be possible without you.
As soon as Hannah came to visit it felt like we’d known her forever. I thought Gabriel would be shy, but he started chatting straight away. He said things he’d never said to us and when she left, he couldn’t wait for her to come back. Her visits helped him process how he was feeling. He started looking ahead and seeing the things he could do, rather than what he couldn’t.
It’s hard to describe the difference in Gabriel since he met her, but we saw it almost immediately. She brought energy back to his life. She gave him hope and challenged his thoughts of, “I’m back but I’m not me and it’s not the same.” She helped him see how far he has come. You can see that he’s grown from it and it’s helping with the doubts he’s had about himself.
